Wanting to fix your smile without the hassel and expense of braces? Invisalign is a great alternative to braces for all ages. Using a process of clear aligners we are able to fix your smile! The process starts with a consultation where a mold will be made of your teeth, and then sent off to create you own personalized set of aligners. Regular visits will be scheduled to ensure your teeth are moving as planned and that your aligners are working for you. Oral Surgery . . .
Wisdom teeth extraction of third molars can protect the overall health of the mouth. It is generally recommended when the following conditions occur:
Wisdom teeth only partially erupt. This leaves an opening for bacteria to enter around the tooth and causes an infection. Pain, swelling, jaw stiffness and general illness can result.
Impacted wisdom teeth may continue growing without enough room, damaging adjacent teeth, nerves, and other tissue. A fluid-filled sac(cyst) or tumor forms, destroying surrounding structures such as bone or tooth roots.
Why remove wisdom teeth early? People between the ages of 15 and 19 should have their wisdom teeth evaluated. If they need to be removed, it should be considered before age 20 when generally fewer complications occur. At a younger age, tooth roots are not fully developed, the surrounding bone is softer and there is less chance of damaging nearby nerves or other structures. There is also less surgical risk and healing is generally faster.
Tooth Replacement and Implant Restorations . . .
Why Replace Teeth? Plaque builds up more easily as the teeth crowd together and shift, increasing the risk of decay and gum disease. When teeth shift so that the upper teeth no longer correctly mesh with the lower ones, chewing can be impaired and can create stress on other teeth and jaw joints. If back teeth are lost, adjacent teeth can shift into vacant spaces. Shifting can also cause the cheeks to sink in and the face to change appearance. The lips may thin and straighten, the chin may jut out and upward, and pouches may appear on the sides of the jaw. There are several options for replacing missing teeth:
Implants – implants are artificial tooth supports surgically set in the jaw. Adults with healthy gums, adequate bone to support the implant and a commitment to meticulous oral hygiene are ideal candidates for dental implants.
Bridges – bridges are tooth replacements that are attached to adjoining natural teeth. Fixed bridges and bonded bridges are the two most common kind.
Dentures – dentures are a set of artificial teeth set into plastic frameworks that rest directly on the gums.
Secure Dentures . . .
Secure dentures are an implant supported appliance. There are two main types of implant supported dentures: the fixed hybrid and the removable overdenture. The fixed hybrid denture is a secure denture that stays permanently attached to the implants and is non-removable. This type of denture works well for people looking for a fixed solution and for those patients that cannot tolerate a removable denture due to gag reflex or palatal coverage. The removable overdenture is a great option for those patients already wearing traditional dentures. In many cases the patient’s current denture can be modified to a removable overdenture saving the cost of having a completely new denture made.
Perideontal Disease Treatment . . .
Most people don’t realize how common periodontal disease, also known as gum disease, is. In fact, 3 out of every 4 adults have some form of this disease. In most cases, it doesn’t cause pain and therefore, goes unnoticed and seriously affects your gums and bone structure. However, early detection and treatment are extremely important for optimum overall health of the mouth and body. Listed below are some of the warning signs:
Gums that bleed easily
Red, swollen or tender gum
Gums that have pulled away from the teeth
Persistent bad breath or bad taste
Permanent teeth that are loose or separating
Any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite
Any changes in the fit of partial denture
